Assortment board
Start with a small number of customer jobs
Divide the board by use instead of filling every available category. A sun-and-travel set might include hats, caps, sunglasses and scarves. A small gift set might use jewelry, wallets or carefully chosen phone accessories.
A source describing itself as an accessories supplier still needs to be checked item by item. Keep the code, exact variant, quantity rule, supporting page and dated quote together.

Count combinations before you count pieces
Illustrative 48-piece test
Two styles × three colors × eight pieces equals 48 pieces. Adding two sizes changes the request to 96 pieces unless a different mix is allowed. Write the matrix before asking for “48 assorted.”
Belts and socks add size or length to the matrix. Phone cases add the exact device model and generation, even when the printed design is the same.

Each category needs its own small specification

Small jewelry
Millimeters, closures and surfaces prevent vague comparisons
For rings, record the inside diameter or a clearly identified sizing system. Bracelets need wearable length, opening or clasp and adjustable range. Necklaces need chain length, extension, pendant dimensions and fastening.
For every jewelry item, separate statements about the base material, plating, coating, stones and care. Ask what supports claims about composition, allergies, water exposure or color retention; do not infer them from color or price.
Packaging map
Tiny products still need identifiers and protection
- Give every style, color, size or device model a readable SKU.
- Record whether each unit is bagged, carded, boxed or loose.
- Keep sharp hardware, lenses and coated surfaces from rubbing in transit.
- Ask how mixed variants are separated inside the carton.
- Confirm barcode or label responsibility before ordering custom work.
- Measure a packed assortment rather than summing product-only estimates.
Keep or cut
Use a scorecard before adding more colors
Score each line on customer use, fit or compatibility certainty, documentation, packing risk and quantity commitment. Cut a visually appealing line if the model, size, material statement or variant identifier cannot be made clear.
The first carton should show which shapes and variants deserve replenishment. It does not need to represent every accessories category at once.
