Chart identity
Read the title and footnotes before the numbers
Confirm that the chart belongs to the exact product code and variant. Look for units, whether the values are body or finished-garment measurements, whether width must be doubled, and any tolerance or manual-measurement note.
A chart copied into a chat without the product title or measurement diagram loses essential context.
Measurement language
Similar labels can describe different points

Measure an item you already understand
Choose the same garment type
Compare a hoodie with a hoodie, not with a fitted T-shirt.
Lay it flat without stretching
Use a firm, level surface and smooth the fabric gently.
Copy the chart's measurement points
If the origin is unclear, ask before assigning a size.
Compare several dimensions
Chest alone may hide a short body, narrow shoulder or long sleeve.
Keep a comfort allowance
Fit preference, material stretch and layering change the decision.
Uncertainty
Use ranges when the evidence supports only a range
Manual production and measurement can create variation. If the page states a tolerance, preserve it in the comparison. If no tolerance is stated, do not invent an exact fit guarantee from one table.
Example record
Reference hoodie chest width 58 cm; chart size L shows 57 cm with a stated ±2 cm tolerance; length is 3 cm shorter than the reference; fit decision remains uncertain because the shoulder method is not defined.

Stop rule
Do not choose a size when the chart cannot be interpreted
Pause when the chart lacks units, cannot be tied to the exact item, mixes body and garment values, or uses measurement labels the source cannot explain. A confident size suggestion without defined measurements is weaker than an honest unknown.
